A bigger sound library, and fewer tabs to search
Music goes from 21 tracks to 51 and sound effects from 12 to 31, and the tabs above them drop from eleven to eight so the list is shorter to read, not longer.
Forty nine new pieces of royalty-free audio: thirty tracks of music and nineteen effects. They are in the editor's audio panel, searchable, with a preview before you commit one to a clip.
Five of the files we had downloaded never made it in. Three were the same track published at four different lengths, which the automatic duplicate filters cannot see because each length carries its own identifier and its own checksum; four near-identical entries in a picker is noise, so we kept the longest. One was a browser double-download and one was already in the library.
The tabs went the other way, from seven moods to five and from four effect categories to three. Ambient held a single track and Pop held three — a tab that opens on one card is not a filter, it promises a choice that is not there. Effects are now sorted by what they do in an edit rather than by genre: connect two shots, mark a moment, hit.
Lofi stayed separate from Chill even though they overlap, precisely because twenty three of the fifty one tracks are lofi. Merging them would have made one tab hold three fifths of the library, which is the problem the tabs exist to solve.
The titles were rewritten too. The generator had been naming tracks from the uploader's filename, which left the artist's own name in the title and dragged slug debris behind it — 'Morgan Lofi Coffee Shop' for a track called Coffee Shop, and one effect whose name was long enough to be cut off before its only useful word.
An honest imbalance, since the picker shows it: this batch was almost entirely lofi and transitions, so Cinematic and Emotional still hold four tracks each. That is the next gap to fill, and it needs music that is not lofi.
