Terms of Service

Katto (“the Service”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is based in Japan. You can reach us at [email protected].

Katto is a web-based tool that automatically converts long videos into short-form vertical clips. You provide a YouTube link or upload a video file, and Katto processes it to generate up to 10 short clips ready to post on social media platforms.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Katto. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account.

You retain full ownership of the videos you submit to Katto. By submitting content, you represent and warrant that:

• You own the content or have obtained all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to process and distribute it
• The content does not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights
• The content does not violate any applicable laws in your jurisdiction
• You accept sole and full responsibility for the content you submit and the clips you generate, publish, or distribute using the Service

We do not claim ownership of your content. We only process it temporarily to provide the Service. Katto acts solely as a neutral technical tool at the direction of the user. We do not select, curate, review, or editorially control any content submitted by users.

If you use Katto to process videos from third-party platforms (including YouTube) via a link, you represent and warrant that you are the original creator of the content or that you have obtained explicit permission from the rights holder to download, process, and repurpose that content. You are solely responsible for compliance with the terms of service of any third-party platform and with applicable copyright law.

Katto provides video processing tools at the user's direction. Katto does not independently access, store, or distribute third-party content. All processing is initiated exclusively by the user. Katto bears no responsibility for any user's violation of third-party terms of service or intellectual property rights.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Katto, its operators, employees, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) content you submit, process, or distribute through the Service; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights.

Generated clips are stored on our servers for 48 hours after processing. After that, they are automatically and permanently deleted. Download your clips promptly. We are not responsible for clips lost after the 48-hour window.

You agree not to use Katto to:

• Process content that contains illegal material, hate speech, or content that sexualizes minors
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or disrupt the Service
• Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our written permission
• Use automated scripts to submit jobs in bulk beyond normal usage patterns
• Circumvent usage limits (Free: 2 videos/month, Creator: 25 videos/month)

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.

Free plan: 2 videos per month, 720p output with Katto watermark, center-crop reframe, auto captions with 4 style presets. No credit card required.

Creator plan:€15/month (or €12/month billed annually), 25 videos/month, 1080p output, no watermark, Miru AI reframe, priority processing. Billed via Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically unless cancelled.

Usage resets on the 1st of each calendar month. Unused videos do not roll over.

You can cancel your Creator subscription at any time from your dashboard. Upon cancellation, you retain Creator access until the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time within a billing period.

All payments are non-refundable. If you experience a technical issue preventing you from using the service, contact us at [email protected] and we will review your case individually.

Katto integrates with third-party services including YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms for video retrieval and publishing. These integrations depend on third-party APIs and services that are outside of our control.

We do not guarantee the availability, reliability, or continued functionality of any third-party integration. Third-party platforms may change their APIs, terms of service, or access policies at any time, which may temporarily or permanently affect certain features of the Service. Katto shall not be held liable for any disruption, limitation, or unavailability caused by third-party platform changes.

We aim for maximum uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages. We are not liable for any loss resulting from service interruptions.

Processing times indicated on the Service (such as “~5 minutes”) are approximate estimates provided for informational purposes only. Actual processing times may vary depending on video length, resolution, server load, network conditions, and other factors. These estimates do not constitute a binding commitment or guarantee of performance. Katto shall not be held liable for any processing time that exceeds the indicated estimates.

Katto is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Katto shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Katto shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

The Katto name, logo, and software are owned by Katto. You may not use our branding without written permission. The clips you generate belong to you — we claim no rights over your output.

If you believe that content processed through Katto infringes your copyright, you may send a notice to [email protected] including: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) identification of the allegedly infringing material; (c) your contact information; (d) a statement of good faith belief; and (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

Upon receipt of a valid notice, we will promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before significant changes take effect. Continued use of Katto after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tokyo, Japan.

If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence, including your right to bring proceedings in your local courts as provided by Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012.
