Clip with Katto is on the Chrome Web Store: clip YouTube and Twitch from the video page

Until now, clipping a video with Katto always started the same way: copy the link, open Katto, paste it. Our Chrome extension removes that step. Google approved it on the Chrome Web Store this week, and it's public.

One button under the video

Once it's installed, every YouTube video and every Twitch VOD gets a Clip with Katto button under the player. Click it and Katto's create screen opens with that video already filled in. You pick your settings and start, exactly as with a pasted link. If you're logged out, the video is still there after you log in or sign up.

Shorts are skipped: they're already vertical clips.

Clip one exact moment

Sometimes you don't want Katto to choose, because you already know the 40 seconds you want. The Clip a moment bar under the button handles that: press Start and End at the right times while the video plays, then Clip this moment. Katto renders exactly that passage as one vertical clip, captioned and reframed. A moment lasts 5 seconds to 3 minutes.

If you've just watched something worth keeping, Last 60 s clips the 60 seconds before the current time in one click. For now, a moment counts as one video of your monthly allowance, like a full video.

On other sites

The extension's icon in the Chrome toolbar works on any page: it sends the page you're on to Katto. That covers the other sources Katto accepts, like Vimeo, Kick, Loom or Google Drive links.

What it can see

The extension asks for a single permission, activeTab: it reads the address of the current tab only when you click its icon. Its button and bar run on youtube.com and twitch.tv only. It collects no data, sends nothing anywhere, holds no account information and loads no remote code. The button is a plain link to katto.tech; your usual Katto session does the rest.

Its labels follow the language YouTube or Twitch is displayed in, in 11 languages.

How we checked it

Before submitting it, we ran it through automated browser tests: the button appears once, the link drops playlist and timestamp parameters, it follows YouTube's in-page navigation, the Start and End marks reset when the video changes, a range over 3 minutes is refused, and Twitch VODs work. If something behaves differently on your side, tell us; we read every reply.

Add the extension to Chrome. It's free and works with every Katto plan. The extension page has the details.
